The operation of the greenhouse gases analyzing equipment requires the use of various support gases (e.g. nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, and air-CO2 mixtures) to serve as standards, carriers and fuel for the flame ionization detector.  The tanks of support gases need to be changed on a regular basis - this is done by staff of the Sable Island Station.
