Afterword: The event was a great success. O
ver 350 people—a full house—attended the Sable Island evening at the Astor Theatre, a great turnout for a small municipality. There was a slight change in the program—Zoe Lucas and Susan Tooke combined their presentations and together gave an illustrated talk about the island’s flora and fauna, and explained how the illustrations for Free as the Wind were informed by, and composed using, the island’s natural history. Many stayed for the reception to speak with the presenters and performers after the show. A dessert auction was held during the intermission, and a huge and festive fruitcake was purchased by Liverpool resident Anna Dunlop. Anna then gave the cake to Zoe to bring back to Sable for the supper get-together at the Station on December 25th. Thanks Anna!
