Occasionally visits to Sable Island are associated with a tour of the facilities and operations of the offshore energy industry. The Island is located in the middle of exploration and production activities on the Sable Island Bank, and is thus of interest to people reviewing the industry’s environmental and operational performance. In September, a group of Russians involved in fisheries and research were brought to the Island for a three-hour visit. They traveled on an industry-chartered helicopter which landed on the pad adjacent to the Station.
