After an escorted walk along the freshwater ponds, the visiting Russians gathered on the south beach to discuss environmental issues. They were from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk where an ExxonMobil subsidiary is engaged in exploration and development (Sakhalin Project), thus they were interested to learn about issues associated with ExxonMobil activities in the Sable Island area.
