In an AGM sealed battery, a very fine fiberglass mat adsorbs and immobilizes the acid while keeping the acid available to the plates (no silica gel is necessary). This allows a fast reaction between the acid and the plate material, and this, combined with very low internal electrical resistance, allows AGM batteries to absorb and deliver higher rates of amperage than other sealed batteries during charging and discharging operations.
