Electricians Al Webber and Louis Gramling at work on the inverter. The two components are actually one inverter - it had to be constructed in two parts so that it could be slung to the island by CCG helicopter.  The AC  

power from the turbines is converted to DC for storage in the battery bank, however, AC is required for most applications. The inverter converts the DC power to AC.
