A family band at a waterhole on the south beach. Although horses living on the eastern half of Sable Island frequently drink from the temporary pools, they also dig waterholes which they keep open year-round. These waterholes are located on the beach (usually the south beach) and throughout inland areas of low elevation. As her band mates stand nearby, a young female uses her front hooves to dig and deepen the water hole.
